Nerve Injuries
A pinched nerve occurs when too much pressure is applied to a nerve by the surrounding tissues. In some cases, the surrounding tissue can be a herniated disk of the spine that compresses a nerve root. In other cases, muscle, tendons and bone can compress the nerve. The pressure causes inflammation of the nerve and can disrupt its function. Examples include carpal tunnel syndrome, radial tunnel syndrome and peroneal nerve entrapment. If pressure continues for long periods of time, permanent nerve damage can occur.
Treatment in our center includes injecting around the nerve to dissect out the nerve and relieve the pressure. Various injectants are used for this procedure to manage the inflammation and pain related to the nerve injury. Call to schedule an appointment to discuss your treatment options with one of our physicians, and determine if stem cell treatment is appropriate for you.
