Plantar Fasciitis
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue extending from the heel to the toes, supporting the arch of the foot. The tissue can become inflamed and cause significant heel pain if the foot is overstretched or overused. Patients who have flat feet or high arches are more susceptible to developing this condition. Most patients will improve with conservative treatment including icing, stretches and shoe inserts. A small number of patients will continue to experience chronic pain, and won’t respond well to conservative measures.
When conservative measures have failed, patients may benefit from platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections or stem cell treatments to the plantar fascia. Call to schedule an appointment to discuss your treatment options with one of our physicians, and determine if stem cell treatment is appropriate for you.
